Introducing the Progressive International Summer School

29 June – 15 August 2024

WHAT IS GLOBAL CAPITALISM?

WHO OWNS WHAT, WHERE, WHEN, AND WHY?

WHEN DID GLOBAL CAPITALISM EMERGE?

WHAT IS ITS PRESENT STAGE OF DEVELOPMENT?

WHAT MIGHT THE FUTURE HOLD FOR THE GLOBAL CAPITALIST SYSTEM IN THE YEARS, DECADES, AND CENTURIES TO COME?

AND WHAT COMES AFTER CAPITALISM?

The Progressive International Summer School is designed to answer these questions. Over the course of eight weeks, you will hear from some of the world’s leading scholars on the past, present, and future of global capitalism, including:

Quinn Slobodian looks at ideas: Who are the thinkers that have guided global capitalism? How are their ideas changing, and to whose benefit?

N'Dongo Samba Sylla looks at money: What is money, who conjures its value, and who is subjected to these conjurerers?

Jodi Dean looks at labor: How have forms of labor and labor relations transformed over time?

If you are an undergraduate, a post-graduate, or a professional of any age in pursuit of a wide-ranging introduction to the global economy, then this course is for you.
