The Secretariat for Strategic Affairs of the General Secretariat of the Presidency of the Republic held a meeting in Belém to present to businessmen a draft of the so-called "Barão do Rio Branco Project", which aims to occupy part of the Amazon. The initiative lists major infrastructure works and investments to leverage activities in the region, which includes areas among the most preserved in the biome.
