In December 2019, Bolsonaro claimed that the Yanomami and Raposa Serra do Sol indigenous reserves were twice the size of Rio de Janeiro and became independent in the name of protecting indigenous people. However, the idea was not to protect the indigenous people but to take what is good from the indigenous lands. (more information here - page 162)

Impact

Bolsonaro's speeches, for the most part, belittle the existence and indigenous experience to the detriment of potential minerals that could be mined in the Yanomami indigenous reserve. In the sense that the presence of the Yanomami indigenous people is an obstacle to mining.
